Is Your Identity As One With God?
Last night our focus for Abundance Unlimited was on John 17 and Being One with God. There are several references, in the Gospels of Christ where Jesus reinforces His One-ness with God. Then during the course of one of His most notable prayers (John 17) He asks of God that ALL who believe would also have the same One-ness with God. What a magnificent request He made of Father God on our behalf. What greater blessing could we possibly receive? And what an act of total selflessness and love. Thank you Jesus!
One of my favorite books covering the subject of One-ness in Christ was written by Thich Nhat Hanh. The title of the book? Living Buddha, Living Christ. If you haven’t read it I encourage you to do so. He specifically states that through his realization that he came to believe, based on his experience, that “we are Christ.” The Apostle Paul also said this in his writings. In Galatians 2:20 Paul wrote “it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me.” Paul then goes on to say, in reference to the the crucifixion “that if One died for all then all died.” Again, the One-ness with God is once again brought to light.
Is it reasonable to believe that this request, made by Jesus, was rejected by God? Is it possible that God did not hear this prayer? Is it possible that God would answer this prayer with anything other than a resounding yes? I don’t believe so. Therefore, based on this and other resources I have studied I believe the I and my Father are One. I believe that you and Your Father are One.
Before I continue with this post I’d like everyone to understand that Reflection of Christ is a judgement free community. The focus here is on love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control. The Bible teaches these traits as the fruits or proof of the Spirit.
Those who study metaphysics, Buddhism or other spiritual belief systems are very welcome here and we will certainly be sharing plenty of content and thoughts, videos and other teachings to assist you on your spiritual path to enlightenment, awakening, rebirth and salvation. It brings me great joy to be able to share in our spiritual journey’s and I look forward to connecting with people who believe the same way.
The more I read an study the more this message rings true. There is no doubt that we are all connected in some way, shape or form, but to what extent? If we are all One with God, where does that leave us as individuals? If we all are of One mind, where is our individual identity? It raises the simple question of “who are we?”
What about Being? If we are indeed One with God then is our reality physical, spiritual or both? These are questions that are being asked by the hundreds of thousands, every month, and that’s only what we are finding on the Internet. People are looking for answers. They are starting to awaken and understand that there is more to this life on Earth than meets the eye.
I believe, as do many, that we are spiritual beings connected to the Kingdom of Heaven. I do not believe in Heaven as a future home or means of escaping a cruel and ugly world. I believe Heaven runs parallel with planet Earth and our bodies are extensions from that reality, the TRUE reality, into this physical realm. I believe Heaven and One-ness with God is now, as in right this very moment. Jesus taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. I believe this is true.
As we discussed on Abundance Unlimited tonight, the foundation for understanding your One-ness with God starts through prayer and meditation. As beings who are One with God it is important to understand that we share the mind of God. Regardless of what many believe, as we draw closer to Him, His thoughts and will become our thoughts and will. Through prayer and mediation we can find that place of peace and listen directly as His voice guides us through every waking minute of every hour of every day.
The Bible teaches that “when you pray, go to your closet (your quiet place) where God here’s in secret.” Your quite place, your closet is the quiet of the mind where the voice of God can be heard. Meditation and prayer are the key component in your connection to your One-ness with your Fathers. As Jesus said, “I and my Father are One.” ”Before Abraham was, I AM.” As Jesus is, You Are.
Christ is alive inside of you. Step into your Being!
